Debriefing and Supervision Activities
This activity supports the development of workplace evidence for the unit of competency:
CHCMGT005 – Facilitate Workplace Debriefing and Support Processes
Participants are required to demonstrate their ability to facilitate reflective conversations that support practitioner learning, professional development, and wellbeing.
You will complete three supervision or debriefing activities and obtain third-party confirmation that the activity took place.
These activities may be completed:

in your workplace
-
with colleagues in professional practice
-
with volunteer practitioners from the Mediation Institute membership
-
through a supervision group organised as part of this course
All discussions must respect confidentiality and privacy obligations. Case information should be de-identified where necessary.
Activity Requirements
Complete the following three activities.
1. Practitioner Debriefing Session
Facilitate a debriefing conversation with a practitioner following a challenging or emotionally demanding professional situation.
The purpose of the session is to support reflective learning and practitioner wellbeing.
Topics may include:

emotional impact of the situation
-
professional decision-making
-
lessons learned for future practice
-
strategies for managing similar situations

2. Individual Supervision Session
Facilitate an individual supervision session with a practitioner.
The session should support reflective practice and professional development and may include:

discussion of a professional challenge
-
reflection on mediation or dispute resolution practice

exploration of ethical considerations

identification of learning goals or development needs

3. Group Supervision Session
Facilitate a group supervision session involving at least two other practitioners.
This session should include:

structured reflective discussion
-
facilitation of peer learning
-
respectful and confidential exploration of practice issues
Participants may invite colleagues or volunteer practitioners, or join a group organised through the course or Mediation Institute community.

Evidence to Submit
For each activity, submit the following.
1. Brief Session Record
Provide a short summary (approximately 150–250 words) describing:

the purpose of the session
-
the structure of the discussion
-
key themes explored
-
insights or learning outcomes
Do not include identifying client information.
2. Third-Party Verification
Provide confirmation from a participant or observer that the session occurred.
The third party may be:
-
the practitioner involved in the session
-
a colleague who attended the group supervision
-
a workplace manager or supervisor
-
a volunteer practitioner from the Mediation Institute membership
The verification should include:
-
name and professional role
-
date of the session
-
confirmation that you facilitated the session
-
signature or email confirmation.
Optional Reflection
You may wish to record reflections about these sessions in your Reflective Supervision Journal, including:
-
what worked well in your facilitation
-
what you might do differently next time
-
how the conversation supported practitioner learning or wellbeing.
