Lens 4 examines the mediator’s internal world — their thoughts, emotions, values, biases, and beliefs — and how these influence their professional practice.
Mediators are not neutral machines; they bring their whole selves into the room. Without self-awareness, unconscious biases or emotional triggers can undermine neutrality, escalate conflict, or compromise safety. With self-awareness, mediators can regulate their responses and maintain impartiality.
