Assessment Requirements for CHCFAM001
This guide outlines what you need to demonstrate to successfully complete the unit CHCFAM001 — Operate in a Family Law Environment. Assessment is designed to help you develop practical competency as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP).
What You Will Be Assessed On

- Work Collaboratively within the Family Law System: Engage effectively with professionals and stakeholders in the family law environment

Assessment Methods
You will complete a variety of assessment tasks throughout this course. Here is what to expect:
Knowledge Quizzes
Content: These quizzes cover family law legislation, family violence legislation, FDRP regulations, and other relevant laws.
What to expect: Four Knowledge Quizzes throughout the unit, testing both theoretical understanding and practical application of family law concepts. Quizzes include multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
Case Study Assessments
Content: You will analyse and respond to hypothetical family law scenarios that reflect real-world FDRP work.
What to expect: One comprehensive case study quiz covering a range of family law contexts. You will demonstrate your ability to apply knowledge to complex, multi-faceted situations.
Collaboration Report
Content: Prepare a written report that demonstrates your understanding of professional collaboration in the family law system.
What to expect: Your report should outline the roles of other professionals in the family law system and how you, as an FDRP, collaborate with them. If you do not have practical experience, you can research and document relevant organisations and collaboration models.
Portfolio of Evidence
Content: Compile a portfolio showcasing your use of family law systems, processes, documentation, and reporting.
What to expect: Your portfolio should include completed forms, reports, and relevant documentation that demonstrates your competency as an FDRP practitioner. This is an ongoing collection throughout the unit.
Start your portfolio early. Keep copies of all your work, including drafts and final submissions. This helps you gather evidence of your learning over time.
